The seed Fortress for minecraft 1.2.4 spawns you in a forest biome near a desert. In that desert is an npc village near the at X: -272 Z: 356.
The entrance to a double ravine with an abandoned mineshaft sitting on top of it is at X: -178 Z: 4.3 Its a large mineshaft, definately worth checking out. At the bottom of the ravine are some exposed diamonds.

first off what does NPC mean? second, to teleport to the ravine i need the y coordinate not just the x and z coordinates

In 1.0.0 seed Fortress Europe is not good, because you spawn in a dark cave with “bad guys”.Also it is hard to get out. There are HUGE floating island and a lot of resourses

The sandstone well crashed my game too. My current project is to make an ancient egyptian civilization in the desert using the new samdstone blocks as decorations and building purposes. I just finished my portal yessssss!

you know, there is an exposed surface dungeon (zombie) not too far from the NPC village
weird…I tried your seed and found a sandstone well,not in the village.its coordinates are:X-124 Y 67 Z 268. im checking it out now.
